On June 15, 2024, at 10:23 am, a fire broke out at the Taipei Criminal Police Bureau in Xinyi District. Despite it being Police Day, firefighters were called to the scene at around 8 pm and successfully extinguished the flames coming from the fingerprint room on the 2nd floor after 15 minutes. The cause of the fire and extent of damage are still under investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the fire started in the ammunition depot on the 2nd floor, burning smoke grenades and covering an area of about 1 square meter, fortunately without any casualties.
