On June 14, 2024, in Taipei, police officers discovered a migrant worker who had been missing for 2044 days during a routine patrol. The migrant worker, falsely claiming to not have identification, attempted to evade the police but was eventually detained. After fingerprinting and verifying their identity, the migrant worker was found to have overstayed their visa and was handed over to immigration authorities for deportation. This incident highlights the authorities' increased efforts to crack down on illegal employment and overstaying by foreign nationals, as well as to ensure the safety and rights of legal residents in the area.
