Reported 7 months ago

Ruifang Police in New Taipei City recently busted a fraudulent group that imprisoned and abused people, making an estimated illegal profit of around 140 million NT dollars in just one year. The group used various tactics, including luring victims to invest in the name of celebrities, acquiring and selling dummy accounts, and even physically assaulting victims to control them. The police arrested 16 individuals involved in the scheme, including two main suspects in their 40s and 30s, who operated the scamming network using hotels as bases. The group was also found to have used the name of Xie Jinhe in online investment advertisements, leading to at least 32 victims. Ruifang Police warned the public, especially job seekers, to be cautious of scams that promise high salaries but end up exploiting victims, urging them to verify job opportunities and avoid providing personal financial information to prevent becoming victims of fraud.
