A plainclothes police officer named Weng from the Sanchong Police Department in New Taipei City mistook veteran Huang for a wanted fugitive, leading to a violent altercation between the two parties. After a court trial, on June 25, Huang was acquitted, while officer Weng was sentenced to 5 months in prison for assault and 10 days in detention for coercion. The incident began on September 20, 2022, when Officer Weng mistakenly approached Huang, a former special forces paratrooper, thinking he was the fugitive. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation, involving multiple officers and resulting in injuries to all parties involved.
