On June 28, 2024, Li, a police officer from Datong Borough in Taiwan, was detained and prohibited from meeting with Wu, his girlfriend, after assisting her in obtaining personal information for debt collection purposes related to an underground gambling operation. Li was also dismissed from the police station. Investigation revealed that Li's involvement stemmed from his romantic relationship with a Vietnamese woman who ran a spa and engaged in illegal activities. The Taipei Police Bureau swiftly acted on the report and brought Li and others in for questioning. Li and Wu were both deemed at risk of fleeing or tampering with evidence, leading to their detention. Taipei Police Bureau noted Li's severe misconduct and promptly removed him from his position in accordance with the law. The police bureau emphasized their commitment to upholding integrity and promptly handling cases of police misconduct.
