In Miaoli County's Tongxiao on June 22, 2024, police successfully prevented a scenario where a suspect from an arsenal factory attempted to ignite explosive materials to perish along with the officers. The 45-year-old man, surnamed Zhou, had previously been caught modifying firearms at a woodworking factory under the guise of cloaking them. Upon returning to the scene recently, police executed a search warrant on Zhou, who, during the raid, tried to detonate the explosives while expressing his desire to end his life alongside the officers. Fortunately, the police swiftly intervened, preventing the detonation, arresting Zhou, and seizing the explosives, as well as prohibited firearms found at the factory.
