The 2026 New Taipei City mayoral candidate selection is under scrutiny, with the latest poll by Central Broadcasting and the Public Opinion Survey Association showing that within the Kuomintang, Taipei Deputy Mayor Li Sichuan has the highest support rate at 37.26%, followed by Legislative Yuan Kuomintang Caucus Secretary-General Hong Mengkai at 14%. Meanwhile, New Taipei Deputy Mayor Liu Heran, favored by Mayor Hou Youyi as the successor, only garnered a support rate of 5.14%.
