On July 1, the Civic group 'Mountain and Sea Citizen Dismantling Action' initiated a recall campaign against Keelung Mayor Xie Guoliang, with 40,000 signatures collected, surpassing the second-phase threshold and still accepting signatures. Political commentator and former aide to the People First Party, Wu Jingyi, questioned whether Xie Guoliang was innocent in the heated recall movement in Keelung. The recall campaign reached 40,000 signatures and strengthens the relationship between the Blue and White camps, with a significant gap in support between these parties. Wu further indicates the campaign may intensify as the younger generation expresses discontent, setting a goal of 50,000 signatures, with the possibility of transitioning the campaign energy towards middle-aged individuals.
