On July 1, 2024, the late 15-year-old Carlo Acutis from Italy became the first saint of the millennial generation recognized by the Catholic Church, certified by Pope Francis. Acutis, known for his love of playing Super Mario and his charitable acts, passed away from leukemia in 2006. He was born in the UK but moved to Italy with his family. Acutis was devout and involved in the Catholic faith, helping the homeless from a young age. After learning programming, he set up a website to share recognized miracles of Catholic churches worldwide. Following his death, two miracles attributed to him were authenticated by the Church, leading to his canonization as a saint, with a possible date in 2025.
