Reopening of Blue Lagoon in Iceland After Nearby Volcano Stabilizes

Reported 6 months ago

The popular Blue Lagoon geothermal spa in Iceland reopened to tourists after authorities confirmed that the nearby volcano had stabilized following an eruption. Visitors were delighted to enjoy the lagoon with the view of the erupting crater in the background. The recent eruption marked the fifth and most powerful since December, threatening the coastal town of Grindavik. Iceland, located above a volcanic hot spot, regularly experiences eruptions with the most disruptive being the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in 2010.
