On June 11, 2024, at 4:34 AM, Sun Derong was driving a Porsche Cayenne on North City Civic Boulevard East in Taipei when a woman accused him of hitting her and fleeing the scene. Following an investigation, the Shilin District Prosecutors Office reached a settlement between both parties regarding the accident, with no prosecution for the hit-and-run. The woman withdrew her complaint after the settlement, citing unclear visibility due to rain as the cause of the accident, where Sun Derong allegedly failed to stop immediately after the collision. Prosecutors found no evidence of intentional hit-and-run on Sun's part and closed the case without further charges.
