Popularity Declining? Number of Shareholders in Financial Holdings Decreases, Investors Shift from Life Insurance to Banking

Reported 8 months ago

According to statistics from the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation, the total number of shareholders in 14 financial holding companies dropped to 6.597 million, a significant decrease of 115,000 from the previous year, marking the end of at least four consecutive years of growth. Investors are seen shifting their focus from life insurance to banking, with over 190,000 shareholders exiting the top five life insurance financial holding companies. Factors such as the declining attractiveness of financial holdings to new shareholders due to the AI boom, reduced dividends, and increasing stock prices leading to decreased interest from investors are mentioned as reasons for the declining popularity.
