A serious fatal accident occurred in North District of Taichung City on March 19, involving a 22-year-old male college student named Shi who collided with an ambulance while crossing an intersection on green light, resulting in a fatal head injury. Shi's blood alcohol content was measured at 0.54 mg, indicating drunk driving. However, a retest of his eye fluid showed no alcohol content, leading to suspicions of mix-up with the sample. Forensic expert Dr. Gao Dacheng explained that post-mortem metabolism can produce alcohol reactions in the body even without drinking. Shi's mother requested the retest and was grateful for achieving a clear conscience. Dr. Gao emphasized the accuracy of eye fluid testing and the limitations of blood alcohol testing post-mortem.
