In a speech at the National Association for Business Economics meeting, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell stated that the US economy is in 'solid shape' and emphasized that the Fed is not bound to a preset course regarding interest rates. While he anticipates continued rate cuts, future reductions may be less drastic than the recent 50 basis point cut made in September.
