On the evening of June 30, 2024, in Taichung, visitors at Dadong Night Market experienced a sudden power outage around 7 p.m. Vendors resorted to using mobile phone lights to continue their businesses, while nearby street lamps that were still powered provided some illumination. The Dadong Night Market Management Committee explained that they were conducting peak load tests on their summer electrical systems, leading to small-scale, short-term power outages for practice, which were quickly restored to normal operation.
