Premier Tsai holds 'Pedestrian Safety Meeting' today, instructs to prioritize improvement of 'dangerous intersections, school zone safety'

Premier Tsai Ing-wen of the Executive Yuan personally held a 'Pedestrian Safety Meeting' today, focusing on the 'Five Strikes Seven Safety' policy. He emphasized the need to identify and improve 'dangerous intersections' and 'pedestrian safety in school zones' as priority areas, requiring specific improvement timelines. Premier Tsai called for cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation and local governments to ensure people can walk the streets with peace of mind. Additionally, he urged for transparency in information disclosure, increased public engagement channels, and collaboration between central government, local governments, and citizens to achieve the goal of reducing pedestrian death rates by 50% by 2030. Premier Tsai highlighted that promoting human-centered transportation and improving pedestrian safety is President Lai Ching-te's commitment and a key task of the innovative cabinet, aiming to create a safe, secure, and comfortable pedestrian environment in Taiwan.
