Prepayment of rent for 'Priority Viewing'? Renters on Facebook Scammed! Suspicious Signs Exposed

Reported 12 months ago

Criminal Investigation Bureau warns the public to be cautious of potential fraudsters posing as landlords on Facebook housing groups. Scammers lure renters by claiming that prepaying two months' rent as a deposit will secure priority viewing, but once the money is transferred, they disappear. The Bureau advises not to make any payments before signing a contract and to beware of rental offers with significantly low prices. Scammers often post appealing rental ads with unrealistic prices and prompt victims to contact them on LINE. These fake landlords use unclear source images, low rent prices, and fake LINE profiles to deceive renters.
