President Lai Attends Academia Sinica Banquet, Reaffirms Taiwan's Independence from China, Emphasizes Three Missions

President Lai Ching-te attended a banquet hosted by Academia Sinica for the 35th Academician Meeting. During his speech, he reiterated that Taiwan and China are not subordinate to each other. He emphasized his three main missions during his tenure, which are to uphold sovereignty, unite the people, and take care of the economy. Notable figures like former Vice President Chen Chien-jen, former Academia Sinica President Lee Yuan-ze, and others were present at the event. President Lai thanked Academia Sinica for its continuous efforts in promoting science education and highlighted Taiwan's goal of becoming an 'AI Island'. He also mentioned the importance of the recently established southern campus of Academia Sinica, focusing on cutting-edge technologies like quantum technology. Lai stressed the need to strengthen national defense, strengthen economic resilience, and cooperate with democratic countries to counter authoritarian threats while remaining open to friendly exchanges with China for mutual benefit and peace.
