President Lai Ching-te held a press conference on 'Trust New Policy, Era New Taiwan' on the one-month anniversary of his inauguration, announcing the establishment of the 'National Climate Change Mitigation Committee' to address issues like the Fourth Natural Gas Terminal. Wang Xing-zhi of the Guardians of Waimu Mountain Action Group welcomed this move, seeing it as an opportunity to enhance social dialogue and consensus-building. The formation of three task-oriented committees was also announced to tackle climate change, national defense resilience, and promoting a healthy Taiwan. Lai expressed that controversial issues like the Fourth Natural Gas Terminal will be discussed and resolved through these committees, shifting from past unilateral approaches to rational social communication.
