President Lai Ching-te Announces Establishment of 3 Committees, Citizen Party Criticizes 'Building a House on Top of a House' by Taking Over Executive-Led Internal Affairs

Reported 8 months ago

President Lai Ching-te, who is about to reach his one-month mark in office, held a press conference titled 'Trust in New Policies, Era of New Taiwan' today to announce the establishment of three committees focusing on climate change, creating a healthier Taiwan, and national defense, with himself leading the reform efforts. However, the Citizen Party criticized Lai for not only overseeing the President's responsible foreign affairs and national defense matters but also venturing into internally led internal affairs, calling it an illogical move. The party expressed regret that Lai's first 'report card' after just over 20 days in office has only heightened the political polarization and spread false rumors in Taiwan. They questioned the interconnection between the three committees and various ministries, warning of the risks of mismanagement and lack of accountability in decision-making under the new structure proposed by Lai Ching-te.
