President Lai Ching-te held a press conference marking his one-month anniversary in office under the theme 'Trust New Politics, Time for a New Taiwan.' He announced the formation of three committees: the National Climate Change Response Committee, the National Resilience and Defense Committee, and the Health Taiwan Promotion Committee. These meetings will be personally chaired by President Lai every quarter to develop national development strategies. Vice convener for the National Climate Change Response Committee includes Vice Premier Chen Li-chun, Academia Sinica President Leo Lee, and Chairman of Wistron Jackson Chow. Vice convener for the National Resilience and Defense Committee is Vice President Hsiao Mei-chin, Presidential Office Secretary-General Pan Meng-an, and National Security Council Secretary-General David Tawei Wu. Vice convener for the Health Taiwan Promotion Committee includes the convener of Health Taiwan Alliance Chen Chih-hung, Chairman of the National Biotechnology and Medical Care Industry Promotion Office Weng Chii-huei, and Cabinet Minister without Portfolio Chen Shih-chung. President Lai explained that the committees were established in response to the global issue of climate change, Taiwan's strategic importance and role in global supply chains, and the challenges of the post-pandemic era.
