President Lai criticized for provocation: Empty talk is not real peace

Reported 8 months ago

President Lai Ching-te reiterated that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People's Republic of China do not subordinate to each other, emphasizing it as a social consensus. He stated that safeguarding national sovereignty and maintaining a democratic constitutional system are responsibilities of the president. Dismissing criticisms from the blue camp and Ma Ying-jeou's office calling him 'provocative' and promoting a 'new two-state theory,' President Lai emphasized that only peace achieved through strength is genuine and assured. Refusing the notion of 'final war as the first war,' he expressed the importance of demonstrating determination to defend Taiwan and achieve peace through preparedness, stressing that talk alone does not guarantee peace, while peace secured through strength is genuine. President Lai highlighted that Taiwan will not succumb to China's policy of annexation, expressing gratitude for the U.S.'s military support, acknowledging its significant role in regional peace.
