President's Office Deliberately Shifts Terminology from 'Two Countries' back to 'Two Sides', Hsiao Hsueh-cen: Attempting to Cover Up Tsai Ing-wen's 'Two Countries' Theory Unsuccessfully

Reported 7 months ago

In response to President Tsai Ing-wen's remarks in an interview with Time magazine, Hsiao Hsueh-cen, the Executive Director of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, criticized the President for skillfully translating foreign media inquiries as 'Two Sides are not subordinate to each other,' suggesting the Presidential Office has quietly retreated from the 'new two countries theory' due to American pressure. He emphasized that Tsai Ing-wen's repeated use of 'two countries' in speeches and interviews reflects the 'new two countries theory,' while attempting to elude the understanding of foreign media that do not grasp Chinese. Hsiao urged Tsai to reaffirm the Cross-Strait Relation Act to truly establish peace and dignity in the Taiwan Strait.
