In a showdown at the Legislative Yuan today (21st), both the blue and white camps united and did not evade voting on the reconsideration proposal for amending the 'Parliamentary Powers Act' and 'Criminal Code' to include the offense of 'contempt of parliament'. With a numerical advantage, the reconsideration proposal was defeated by 62-51. Premier Su Tseng-chang expressed disappointment and mentioned seeking constitutional remedies, while DPP caucus confirmed they will soon request a constitutional interpretation. In response, the President's Office stated they will respect the requests for constitutional interpretation by the Executive and Legislative Yuan, and the President will carefully evaluate whether to apply for constitutional interpretation after receiving the advice.
