Reported 9 months ago

On June 24th, following the Legislative Yuan's passage of blue and white version parliamentary reform bills, President Tsai Ing-wen signed and announced the bills into law, but also declared to apply for constitutional interpretation and temporary disposition, which went into effect on the 26th. Today, the Presidential Office appointed Lawyer Hong Wei-sheng to submit a constitutional interpretation request to the Judicial Yuan, seeking constitutional review and temporary disposition. The Presidential Office spokesperson emphasized that opposing the parliament's expansion of powers is not opposing parliament reform, stating that while the parliament should reform, the method must be lawful and constitutional.
