President Tsai Ing-wen requested a constitutional interpretation and temporary injunction regarding the amendment of parliamentary powers, through lawyer Hung Wei-sheng on June 28, 2024. The Presidential Office clarified that opposing the expansion of parliament's powers is not against reform and emphasized that while parliament should be reformed, the methods used must be legal and in line with the constitution. This move comes after the rejection of amendments to the Legislative Yuan's exercise of powers law and the Criminal Code by the Legislative Yuan, prompting legal actions by the Democratic Progressive Party caucus and the Executive Yuan.
