President Tsai Ing-wen today responded to the parliamentary reform legislation by filing a constitutional interpretation and temporary disposition with the Judicial Yuan through lawyers. The Presidential Office stated that the President has clearly expressed opposition to expanding Parliament's powers, not to reform itself. While acknowledging the need for parliamentary reform, the President emphasized that it must be done legally and constitutionally, particularly to avoid violating individuals' basic rights like privacy, trade secrets, and freedom of expression.
