Reported 12 months ago

On July 3, 2024, Huang Kuo-chang, the convener of the People Party Caucus, stated that he would propose on July 12 for President Lai Ching-te to give a state report to the Legislative Yuan according to the Law on the Exercise of Legislative Powers; Presidential Palace spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui urged to wait for the decision of the Constitutional Court before taking action if there are concerns about unconstitutionality. Huang Kuo-chang responded on July 3, criticizing the government for freezing the enforcement of laws proactively before a constitutional interpretation decision is made, stressing that Taiwan is a rule of law nation where laws should be followed per the procedures set forth in the Law on the Exercise of Legislative Powers, and expressing disbelief towards an alleged double standard by the DPP government.
