The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the Kuomintang (KMT) engaged in full-scale propaganda campaigns in New Taipei and Tainan on June 15, leading up to the upcoming legislative review. While the DPP was in Tainan, known as the president's stronghold, on the same day, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-cher was absent. The DPP also announced plans for another protest at the legislature on the 19th, while the KMT accused the DPP of using inflammatory language to stimulate consumption, escalating tensions as the legislative review vote approaches.
