In the most common accident scenario of building fires, especially among elderly individuals, incidents of leaving the stove on while cooking or even leaving the house with the stove still on are prevalent. Recognizing the poor evacuation and response abilities of older adults in home fires compared to younger individuals, the Taoyuan City Fire Department's Fourth Brigade, Mountain Peak Brigade, in collaboration with the Fulin Community Development Association in Pingzhen, organized a community fire prevention and safety awareness event today to provide cooking safety tips and evacuation methods specifically for elderly community members. Recommendations included installing a gas stove safety device that automatically cuts off gas in case of a leak or prolonged use, as well as having residential fire alarms to alert in case of a fire outbreak for prompt response and evacuation, aiming to instill this crucial knowledge in both residents and the elderly in the community.
