To ensure the hygiene and quality of rice wet products following the Baolin incident that caused 5 deaths, Taipei City Health Bureau conducted inspections at traditional markets, noodle stalls, restaurants, and grocery stores, with 'Tianzhong Tangyuan' radish cake found to contain preservatives that did not meet regulations. The product was removed from shelves as its source could not be explained, and a fine ranging from 30,000 to 3 million NT dollars may be imposed according to the Food Safety and Sanitation Management Act. The Health Bureau also emphasized the proper use of food additives and the need for proper storage of high water activity products like rice wet items to prevent microbial growth.
