Taoyuan Mayor Zhang Shan-Zheng presided over a municipal meeting where he emphasized the importance of strengthening building and enterprise disaster prevention strategies, urging for stricter fire prevention inspections in building systems, and promoting enterprise disaster prevention projects using risk assessments and fire dynamic simulators. Three key initiatives were proposed: evaluating fire risk weighting based on building types to ensure sufficient fire personnel allocation in each area, assessing disaster prevention structures and earthquake resistance of buildings according to their completion time, and utilizing real-time monitoring technologies to track disaster progress and ensure firefighter safety. This initiative follows the Qingkonghui fire incident in Hsinchu as a case study, where issues of insufficient fire isolation between electrical ducts, ineffective fire safety doors, and equipment malfunctions were identified, prompting the city to step up safety inspections for high-rise residential buildings in Taoyuan.
