In February 2024, a tragic incident occurred at Keelung City's Third Police Precinct Eight-Barracks Substation where a police officer was killed after being hit by a truck driven by a civilian. Following this, the National Police Agency ordered all police agencies nationwide to enhance on-site security. Taoyuan City Police Chief Wu Kun-xu has emphasized the safety and well-being of police officers and instructed all units to thoroughly review and inspect on-site protection facilities. Taoyuan precincts have been installing high-intensity anti-collision steel frames, anti-collision flower beds, bulletproof glass for duty stations, and other barrier facilities since April 26 to enhance the safety of grassroots police officers. After identifying 51 areas of safety concern at police stations, appropriate actions have been taken for improvement. The Taoyuan Police Force aims to protect and support grassroots officers, ensure on-site safety, and safeguard office environments, enhancing efforts to maintain public safety and traffic order, creating a better living environment in Taoyuan.
