A private detective agency in Taichung had its boss, surnamed Hong, receiving 150,000 Taiwanese dollars per month to track the whereabouts of a former wife on behalf of a man surnamed Huang. Suspicious of the person the ex-wife was dating having a criminal record, Hong sought the help of a familiar Taichung police officer, surnamed Yang, to illegally access criminal records and travel routes. Both individuals admitted their wrongdoing during the Taichung judicial investigation, with Yang receiving a deferred prosecution for the illegal inquiry of personal data and Hong facing charges for violating personal data protection laws and fabricating false documents due to multiple offenses.
