After 59 years of history, Taipei's private St. Joseph Senior High School, known for nurturing many prominent figures, held its last graduation ceremony on June 12th as the school decided to cease operations. With declining enrollment due to a decreasing population of school-aged children, the school stopped admitting new students for the junior high and high school departments in the 111th academic year, and subsequently announced its closure with the final graduation ceremony on June 12, 2024. The school plans to hold a 'Alumni Return to Campus' event in August for former students to reminisce. Staff have been provided severance pay and assistance in finding new employment, with plans to apply for reorganization to potentially re-open under a new educational or social welfare institution.
