Promoting Grassroots Baseball Development in Cross-Strait Regions by CTBC Bank

Reported 9 months ago

In an effort to promote grassroots baseball development across the Taiwan Strait, CTBC Bank has allocated resources to support elementary schools in Mainland China with potential in baseball. The first cooperating school chosen is Xiamen Ruijing Elementary School in Fujian, where students from Golden Gate Elementary School in Kinmen County were invited to attend the '2024 Cross-Strait Youth Baseball Exchange Tournament' to interact with and learn from Ruijing's baseball team. With the level of baseball in Mainland China improving yearly, CTBC Bank has launched a grassroots baseball upgrade plan this year to enhance cross-strait baseball exchanges and development by sponsoring baseball training equipment, organizing coach training courses, and subsidizing transportation and accommodation costs for participating schools in Fujian and other provinces and cities to strengthen their grassroots baseball abilities. Through joint efforts from CTBC Bank and various organizations, such as the CTBC Charity Foundation and committees focusing on the next generation in Fujian Province, CTBC Bank sponsors the '2024 Cross-Strait Youth Baseball Exchange Tournament' as part of the '2024 Cross-Strait Sports Festival' series, allowing children who enjoy playing baseball to pursue their dreams on the field. The tournament was encouraged by BFA President and Chinese Taipei Baseball Association Chairman Kuo Chung-Liang, who emphasized the spirit of perseverance and mutual learning in baseball, urging all players to give their best efforts. The opening ceremony was attended by executives from CTBC Bank and the CTBC Charity Foundation, highlighting CTBC's commitment to balancing sports and academic development through initiatives like the 'Love Baseball Project', which has supported 25 rural baseball schools in 15 counties and cities in Taiwan since 2014. The Golden Gate Elementary School baseball team, led by Principal Tsai Hsueh-Fang, participated in the tournament with 22 players and coaches, having reached the top 16 in the national elementary school baseball league for two consecutive years. Their opponents, Ruijing Elementary School, have been active in baseball for nearly 20 years and are the first cooperating school in CTBC Bank's efforts to promote grassroots baseball in Mainland China, demonstrating a strong competitive edge through regular participation in games in locations such as Pingtan, Liancheng, and Shaoxing.
