During a legislative session, Kuomintang lawmaker Huang Jen raised concerns about the lack of medical facilities in eastern Taiwan, leading to critically ill patients needing to be transferred long distances - putting their lives at risk. Huang proposed the establishment of a medical center-level Hualien-Taitung Veterans General Hospital to address this issue. Vice Director Lee Wei-Qiang of the Taipei Veterans General Hospital promised a thorough evaluation of the proposal. The discussion also touched on the challenges faced by veterans who find employment but lose medical benefits, highlighting the need for comprehensive support.
