The controversy over priority seats for senior citizens on public transportation continues as the Ministry of Health and Welfare expresses intention to amend the Disability Rights Law, expanding the scope of who can use these seats. KMT legislator Hsu Yu-chen plans to revise the law to change the priority users from 'the elderly, weak, women, and children' to 'those with actual needs,' aiming to prevent conflicts over these seats and bridge the generational gap caused by some seniors resorting to verbal abuse or physical altercations to take over the seats. The proposed amendment will be reviewed in the coming week.
