On July 5, 2024, before 10:33 p.m., Taoyuan Mayor and Straits Exchange Foundation Chairman Cheng Wen-Tsan was implicated in corruption. The Taoyuan District Prosecutor's Office stated today (6th) that after interrogation, the defendant applied for detention to the court. The prosecutor directed the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau in Taoyuan to investigate Cheng for alleged violations of the Anti-Corruption Act. Cheng was brought in yesterday and confirmed by the prosecutor to be involved in bribery related to his official duties, leading to his arrest due to the seriousness of the crime suspicion.
