Public Housing Leading the Way to Zero Emissions Transition: Ministry of the Interior: 250,000 Units Can Reduce Carbon by 112,300 Tons by 2032

On June 20, 2024, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior Dong Jianhong, along with Director of the Institute of Architecture Wang Rongjin and Director of the National Park Administration Chen Maochun, held a press conference. The Ministry of the Interior announced the completion of research and measures for achieving zero emissions in the construction sector by 2050, with public housing leading the way. It's projected that by the end of 2032, the construction of 250,000 public housing units can reduce carbon emissions by approximately 112,300 tons annually. Efforts are being made to update regulations and ensure all new buildings meet energy efficiency standards towards the goal of zero emissions by 2050.
