During the US Department of Commerce's SelectUSA Investment Summit, Taiwan, with over 120 business representatives, once again became one of the largest delegations. The Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Commerce, Lagarde, mentioned Taiwan's direct investment in the US reaching $22 billion in 2022, with US direct investment in Taiwan standing at $17 billion that same year. However, the pressing issue for Taiwan-US businesses remains the signing of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement, currently stuck in the Senate. Taiwan's representative in the US, Yu Da-man, expressed determination in lobbying further. The aim is to significantly reduce tax burdens for Taiwanese and American businesses, creating a better investment environment to attract future foreign direct investment.
