The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is interested in investing in energy, high-tech, ports, and banking institutions in Cyprus. This move is expected to strengthen economic ties between the two nations. Qatar has been supporting a maritime aid corridor from Cyprus to Gaza and has also been involved in mediating efforts for a cease-fire deal in the region. Additionally, Qatar is partnering with ExxonMobil in oil and gas exploration in Cyprus' exclusive economic zone.
