Qishan Funeral Parlor Under Construction, Public Hearing Held at District Office

Reported about 1 year ago

A public hearing was held at the third floor of the Qishan District Office this morning regarding the construction of the Qishan Funeral Parlor. Despite the scheduled start time at 10 a.m., around 200 people had already gathered by 9:30 a.m., with a heated atmosphere. Opponents expressed concerns about traffic, air pollution, and the impact on local tourism. While some supported the construction citing the lack of funeral facilities in the area and the need to restrict roadside funerals, others argued against it due to population decline and existing funeral parlors in nearby areas. The meeting, initiated by Councilor Lin Fubao, aimed to promote the establishment of the funeral parlor, which has faced delays for nearly a decade.
