During his speech at Computex on June 16, 2024, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon announced the company's focus on AI smartphones and AI PCs, with a new platform set to be revealed at an upcoming summit in October. Analyst Guo Mingdi revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip for smartphones, using TSMC's 3nm process, may be priced at $190-200, signalling a 30% increase. Additionally, Qualcomm's PC platform will see shipments of 2 million X Elite series chips this year, with next year's WOA processor using TSMC's 4nm process, codenamed Canim, priced at just $599 while maintaining 40 TOPS AI performance, potentially doubling shipments. The more cost-effective WOA processor expected to launch next year at $599-$799 will also maintain competitive AI capabilities. Overall, Qualcomm's focus on AI is set to drive demand in both smartphone and PC markets.
