Starting from July this year, Taiwan's Ministry of Interior will promote the 'Low Carbon Building Assessment Certification' to target the carbon emissions during the construction phase of buildings, with the aim of achieving overall net zero buildings. The greenhouse gas emissions in the residential and commercial sector account for approximately 19.85% of the national total emissions, with 70% coming from buildings' energy use and the remaining 30% from the construction phase. The Ministry has introduced measures to quantify carbon emissions in buildings and promote low-carbon construction practices while addressing concerns about cost implications of such initiatives.
