On June 21, 2024, at 2:10 AM, after receiving intelligence, Taoyuan police discovered an underground gambling arcade hidden in a commercial office building with complex access. A special police team from the Wuling Police Station swiftly moved in to monitor and gather evidence, leading to a recent raid that resulted in the arrest of 2 arcade staff and 64 gamblers. The raid seized over 960,000 NTD in gambling funds and more than 150 gaming machines. The authorities faced resistance as the arcade attempted to block entry with multiple layers of steel plates and C-shaped steel bars on the main door, prompting a special police unit to use power tools to gain access. Despite attempts by staff and gamblers to escape through secret passages, they were apprehended as all exits were covered. The Taoyuan police stressed the negative impacts of illegal gambling on individuals and families, emphasizing ongoing efforts to eliminate such establishments for a safer community.
