Rakuten and eBay have partnered to test the demand in the United States for used Japanese fashion goods, taking advantage of the yen's low value and a growing trend in bargain hunting. The collaboration involves eBay listing selected goods from Rakuten's second-hand unit Rakuma for sale on its platform, with a Rakuten-contracted vendor managing shipping and customer service in the U.S. The trial initially focuses on used fashion and accessories, leveraging Japan's reputation for well-maintained luxury items. If successful, the goal is to expand offerings to more countries beyond the U.S.
