Random Theft! Hong Kong Airport Luggage Thieves Sold Luxury Items for 4.6 Million NT

On June 18, 2024, Hong Kong police cracked down on a luggage theft case at the airport, where two foreign individuals were caught stealing luggage randomly from the conveyor belt. After their arrest, it was discovered they had resold luxury items from the stolen suitcases, accumulating around 4.6 million Taiwanese dollars. Visitors to Hong Kong are advised to be cautious as the number of tourists has been increasing, with 18 million visitors in the first five months of the year. The thieves, a 23-year-old Canadian man and woman, made multiple entries into Hong Kong between February and June. Police suspect they were involved in at least three theft cases, prompting a warning for travelers to keep valuables with them to prevent opportunistic crimes.
