In Ayutthaya Province, Thailand, a mother elephant gave birth to a rare pair of 'dragon-phoenix twins,' sparking wonder and joy as twin elephant births are extremely rare. The mother elephant, overwhelmed with fear during the second twin's birth, nearly stepped on one of the calves, prompting the elephant keepers to intervene. One keeper broke his leg in the process but expressed relief upon learning that both calves were healthy. The twins, weighing 55 and 60 kilograms respectively, have captivated many as the probability of elephant twins is only 1% and 'dragon-phoenix twins' are even rarer. The siblings received blessings and treats from monks, marking a significant event for the elephant sanctuary and the global fight to protect these endangered creatures.
