A billionaire surnamed Li, acquaintance of financial expert Xie Jinhe, received Line messages purportedly from Xie encouraging him to invest in an app called 'Hainan International,' leading to him being scammed over 150 million by a group pretending to be Xie. The police arrested 12 members of the scam ring, with investigations ongoing to find the mastermind behind the scenes. An individual surnamed Jin, a driver, has been detained. Victims had been lured into investing through the app and meeting in person under the false pretense of Xie's involvement. Li raised the alarm after realizing the deception when unable to withdraw funds.
